- Whom does Demidov fund help?
- For several years this social organization has been acting in our city and in the Atay territory. The director assistant of Biysk branch of Demidov fund Evgeny Skomorokhov and executive director Victor Bulanichev tell about aims, activity and future of this organization.
- Why "Demidov"?
- Victor Bulanichev: The family of Demidovs is known by contributing to research and exploitation of raw materials. Beside the industrial activity, they are known all over the world by their charities. Their activity promoted the development of advanced foreign technologies and ideas in Russia.
That was just Demidovs who gave birth to the Altay mining. The fund centers function in Tula, Ural, Moscow and Sankt-Peterburg. In 1992 the UNESCO made a suggestion to integrate these centers into the international Demidov fund. All the centers are independent and self-sufficient.
- What are the plans?
- Evgeny Scomorokhov: The fund's aim is to restore the forgotten traditions of Russian enterprise - namely, the tradition to help society, nation. For instance, Biysk branch of Demidov fund has planned the following programs for 1998-1999: contest of the best sponsor, charity person of Biysk city and its country districts; restoration and reconstruction of merchant Kuznetsov's trade house; set-up of youth research expedition to Gorny Altay and many others. Demidovs' slogan "Asta non verba" is the motto of the fund. Educated, high-skilled and cultural people are the basis of economy. That's why we believe that fund has to pay more attention to the program of training and education of young people. By the way, the initiation of Demidov fund's grants is one of our projects.
